Some notes on this story and the real U-89:

The real U-89 was a Type VIIC built in August 1940 and actually commissioned in late 1941. She was commanded by KrvKpt Dietrich Lohmann, U-89 made four patrols, sinking four ships for a total of 13,815 gross registered tons. U-89 was sunk in May 1943 in the North Atlantic by a Fairey Swordfish from the British carrier HMS Biter, with assistance from a destroyer and a frigate. All 48 men on board U-89 were lost.
There was also a U-89 in the First World War, Built right at the end of 1915 and commissioned in mid 1917. She too sunk four Allied ships, for a total of 8,496 gross registered tons, but only made three patrols. The first U-89 was eventually sunk in early 1918 near Malin Head, after having been rammed by HMS Roxburgh, all 43 on board were killed.
You can find out more about her at this site: http://www.10barpics.com/u-89.htm

Note that many of these pictures have been tweeked in Photoshop, so don't go looking for mods that do some of the stuff in these pics, as you'll not find them! Also note that the end message on the last picture montage seems to think that it is March 1941, when it was actually August, whether this is an SH3 glitch or one resulting from SH Commander or GWX I don't know, but I kind of liked the way the message looked, even with its typo, so I used it anyway.
