How to import DDS textures to 3DS MAX

As the title says. I downloaded the NV DDS plug in for 3DS MAX, but i am not 100% here as it says for ver 3,4,5. I am running 3DS MAX 9. Or is there another way to display the textures on the models?

In wings, I converted the dds to a tga, stuck it in the right folder and it appeared in the editor -- once, couldn't get it to work everytime.

3ds max DDS Plug-ins

Allows 3ds max to read .dds files. The installer includes versions for 3ds max 3, 4, and 5, as well as source code for the latest version.
If you're working with DDS files, you may also find our Adobe Photoshop Plug-ins, DDS Utilities, and DDS Thumbnail Viewer useful.

Hi! Iīm not really sure if those plug-ins work on v9... I tried them and didnīt work but I really didnīt insisted very much on it...

The best thing you can do (assuming you only need those textures in max for reference right?) is convert the dds to jpg in photoshop (use the dds loader PS plugin by nvidia) and use the jpg image. You can also use the tga format but it consumes much more memory than the jpg, specially when you are working on complex 3D scenes.

Hope this helps!

Cheers man...i think that will help. No luck so far with the DDS plug in. I think its only for v3,4,5 of MAX.
