Newbie - applying mods question

Hi guys, looking for some assistance here. I'm just now trying to install a few mods and I've read that you need to apply them while in port. Do I apply the mod with JSGME and then load my 'OnLeavingBase_1' savegame, or do I need to make a separate save game from my 'office' before accepting my next mission and use that?

Also, I would like just like to say 'Thanks' to all the modders and great people in this fine community! The information here is invaluable to a newb like myself.

GGs!!! :rock:

Before entering the game you have to enable the mod with JSGME. You don't have to think about savegames as far as I know.

* Enable the mod

* Run the game

* Load your saved game if you like, the mod is enabled anyway.

Did this make sense?:sunny:

Kakemann is right :|\\

The most important thing is that you are in port.
Just enabled the mods and start the game

Welcome to the club :up:

Thanks for the help guys!!

So when you say 'the most important thing is that you are in port' you mean that you shouldn't try to start the mod using JSGME while SH4 is already running? Like if I alt-tabbed out of the game? As long as I do that I can use a save-game that I have from the middle of a patrol?? I was thinking I had to finish my current patrol, or use a save-game from before I left on my current mission. Guess I'm still a little confused, sorry.

No mod will be activated while in game. Graphic mods for example can be activated when in the main menu, but stuff using scripts and .ini's etc will not really work like that. You have to activate the mod with JSGME and then start the game for them to be plugged in properly. The "port" rule does don't really apply to graphic mods, but most other mods/modpacks like RFB, FTT or Trigger Maru you need to be in base before activating. Basically any mod that deals with the campaign settings needs to be activated in port.
