AoB using Aspect Ratio

As I do not have hard copy of the recognition manual does anyone have, or can point me to, a SHIII Ship aspect ratio list. I would dearly like to use this, if one is available, in conjunction with the guide from Hitman (for SHIV) to calculate AoB.

If you open the .CFG files at all Data/sea/whatever folders, you will see this: (Example is T2 tanker)

Quote:

[Unit]
ClassName=OTMST2
UnitType=101
MaxSpeed=14.5
Length=152.7
Width=18.8
Mast=35
Draft=9.5
Displacement=7791
RenownAwarded=7791
[2DCompartments]
UnitPos=42,2,431,25
NbOfComp=4
Name1=Propulsion
Area1=58,5,30,18
Name2=Keel
Area2=164,2,187,10
Name3=Engines Room
Area3=107,13,52,18
Name4=Fuel Bunkers
Area4=161,13,30,18

That's the two values you need of the aspect ratio: In this case it's 4,36

It might be a bit painful to open all files and copy the data, but once you have the list it is ready for ever, and you also might want to do it so because there are so many ships added by modders that the printed manual is very incomplete.

Happy hunting

P.S. I have tried the AR method in Sh3 and also works very well, just note the bearing of the target at the moment you measure it. Then once you have calculated the AR, put it in the TDC on that bearing, and from then on you can simply follow the target with the scope and AOB will be auto-updated. Also the Observation scope is much better for AR method measurements.

metere or imperial

Question Hitman,

are those figures in meters or imperial? I want to do is make an aspect ratio chart for each type of ship from 90' abeam in 10' increments.

In this case, it doesn't matter what the units are, because you are looking for a ratio. If the numbers were feet, inches, meters, yards, or light years, it wouldn't matter.

Fast enough for ya Hitman? :arrgh!:
