don't wabnna alarm anyone, but possible virus warning

did an AVG scan and found a trojan, generic4.PKR(PXR?) in 7-Zip\7zCon.sfx AVG was able to clean it out, tho

Sorry man...don't get it. What file is that?

terrapin 05-18-07 01:35 AM

It's part of the 7z compressor/decompressor software.

No anomalies known yet. So I'd consider it a false alarm for now.

Mudrik 05-18-07 05:50 AM

I use powerarchiver for my 7z files. Never had any problems. It's a very good compression program, try it if you haven't already.

If you are using it, did you obtain it from a genuine trusted source?

Viruses though, don't get me started on that one, I always ask myself "why". If a person is skilled enough to write modern PC code, why do they devote their skills to what amounts to nothing more than vandalism. Anyway, I guess that's a discussion for another thread or forum.

Good luck with your compression issues

AVG cleaned out that file, so i don't think there'll be any probs with it. don't recall when the last time i had a virus was

Because my friend they "aren't" skilled enough to write modern code! L-O-S-E-R-S!!

And this is coming from someone in the computer field. :) I'm sure most of the guys here are smart enough to keep their virus definitions up to date! I'm new to this forum, but I can tell there are some intelligent members! Think I'll stick around and hope some of it rubs off! :yep:

I use AVG myself. Not bad for a free product. But then, I really don't frequent the file sharing websites much.

I use Avast myself it has the best boot time scan there is IMO, in fact it's better than some commercial products in that regard, also it has a much cleaner interface.
