Playable Sub Names
I noticed when creating a mission, the game assigns a random name for the player's sub. I don't won't this as i'm making historical missions and need to name the sub. SH3 would do this but SH4 apparently doesn't keep the name you assign.
Does anyone know how to keep the name you give in the game? :-? ew |
Changing The Sub Name...
Go to "My Documents\Sh4 and pick through all the files you can edit with Note
or Word - pad. You'll get the idea Blight |

I did this and was able to rename the sub if the mission is saved in-game. But i need to have it named right at the beginning of the mission. Looks like no-dice on the one. Noticed all the packaged missions also generate random names.... :hmm:-ew |
For a quick fix right now, if you can't wait:
Save a game IN BASE. Then, go to mydocuments/sh4/data/cfg/savegames/<most recent savegame folder>. Open up careertrack.upc in Notepad. Look for the name of your current boat (USS DRUM, USS BALAO, etc.) and change it to your liking. Also, have a looksee in the activeplayerunits.upc file as well, I can't remember right now if the unit name shows up here as well, or not. For a permanent fix, I'd recommend Beery's solution (thanks, Beery!!!), which is to edit the cfg file for the type/types of sub for which you want to change name. I definitely reccommend this one the next time you fire up a new career. Beery's solution: Quote:
