More Save File Problems

I can't believe how this game likes to screw me over whenever I get a good run on it. I cannot reload any of my latest save files because they result in a crash. I get so far as the "Not So Long Ago..." screen, then it goes black.... and then hey presto I am back to Windows.

Which means, I have to now restart my latest patrol which I am none to pleased about. I saved on the surface, granted I may have beeen still a bit close to the convoy but I don't know what else to say. This was one of my best patrols ever, 30,000 tons and only 6 torpedoes used! I could have gone on to rack up well over 50,000 luck permitting but because of a crappy save game feature I will never know.

What I do know is, I am very upset. :hulk:

I had a similar problem with a career started pre-GWX 1.03. Once I got rid of all the careers started before installing 10.3 everything's been running well. Hope you resi;ve you problem quickly

I doubt it.

I have no earthly idea how to resolve it.:down:

Did you you check the windspeed settings on the campaign files ?
Sometimes they can be set to 0

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Campaigns\Campa ign

Open all 3 .mis files with notepad and check this area

Hour=12
Minute=0
Fog=1
FogRand=1
Clouds=1
CloudsRand=1
Precip=1
PrecipRand=1
WindHeading=0
WindSpeed=4.000000
WindRand=1
WeatherRndInterval=6
SeaType=0

Hey woolz.

Yes I make sure my windspeed is not 0, usually I just put it to 2, so you say I should put it as 4. six zeros henceforth?

bigboywooly 05-13-07 02:19 PM

Well its 4 as default on the GWX files
You set as you want to Pen

I did set it to 1 before I left dock this time, so I have no earthly idea what happened to it. Unless I saved too near to the convoy on both occasions.

This is what happened to me. I was up late, ready to intercept a convoy, so I saved, exited patrol and closed the game. Later, I go to reload my save and I get the crash you described. I checked my windspeed, changed the numbers around, the save still crashes. I know its becuase I saved too close to the convoy. Is there a backend fix I can do for this besides wiping out my profile and starting over?

I did try a suggestion made on another thread and did not work. I moved the saved campaign files out of My Documents/SH3 to my desktop, rebooted pc, moved files back. No way. I don't have another drive, otherwise I'd do that. I thought it was enough to just move the files out of the location the program was told to look.

I have experienced the same problem. I have installed some ships addon, started a new patrol from harbour and saved near a convoy (note: the convoy was composed by C3 cargos only, no new ships). When I reloaded game crashed.
I tryed uninstalling all mods, and restarting the patrol from harbour again. Waited for a new convoy and retested the procedure (save and reload): this time all works OK.
Maybe this is a problem caused by mods. Or maybe you cannot continue your career after installed a new mod without this problem.
The best way is to save at a certain distance and then approach the convoy.
