[REQ] Destabilized DG
Are you also frustrated how your deck gun appears to be so super-stabilized when you fire it manually?
Can it be done that when firing the guns manually there is some rocking and swaying effect so you cant have "laser precise" firing. Also, can it be affected by your submarine rocking? I see something like that was done for SH3, but dl link is dead so I cant see what exactly... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...t=destabilized Thanks. |
Some discussions about this here
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...=113599&page=4 and here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...highlight=Deck where you actually posted ;), don't think there has been more progress as of yet. Would also like to have a bit more sway when aiming the deck gun. |
i have played a little with settings mentioned in that thread and didn't notice any change...
i guess we will need some help from more experienced modders. |
Well as i never looked at it i can't say i am experienced with swaying guns...yet ;)
Will have a look at it...maybe some other bods could chip in here, this could be a good one if we fix it! |
Thought a bit...I think this could be done with the camera. If we could use the same cam as when you are in the conning tower and port that to the deck gun, we should in theory have the sway...as i said only thinking here. Now if that actually will affect the aim?...well we have to try don't we.
EDIT: What does these do in the Cam.dat? Quote:

Two things to note: before one of the patches, the unzoomed deck gun view and the AA gun views were not stabilized. The super stabilization did not occur until you went into the deck gun optics. Now the no-optics views for deck/AA guns are stabilized to the point where not only do they not roll with the ship, they stay pointed to an exact point in space as the ship turns. Really silly and can't even begin to imagine why they added this effect.

Does Stabilize View in difficulty settings have anything to do with this?
|
It SHOULD, but I've always had the destabilized view set, and it doesn't affect the DG.
|
I use the SV for UZO, with out it it's almost impossible to track a surface target in heavy seas. As it probably was.
I'm just wondering if the guns still stable even if we didn't use SV? Easy enough to check, but I'm running for my life right now...Just ran afoul of a large Task force, seems I've upset the hornets nest:rotfl: |
Can't say I see any difference with SV ticked or not...
|
No difference in deck gun stabilization when you check/uncheck stabilize view in difficulty setting.
I'll try to do something with cameras_dat. |
O.K.
I tried playing with Cameras_dat, changing gc height, even playing with gui file, no luck. I did, however, find some relics from SH3 :hmm: http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...-5-2007_16.jpg Anyone had more luck? |
LOL! Yea, there's a lot of stuff left over from SHIII.
I cant think of any good reason why they didn't trim the fat so to speak. I did just have an idea and will run it by you as you've been to these files. Was just goofing around and took on a Kongo Battle ship with my deck gun. thought about what happens when you get hit by one of those VW sized shells they throw. That blurring double vision effect you get...if that could be prolonged and added to the depth charge effect of your boat rolling back and forth...or even replace the roll, how would that look? |
