In route to patrol grid AN11 we submerge and hydrophones picks up a merchant moving slow. We track and intercept the merchant that is clearly on course to the British mainland and its flying Neutral Denmark colors. Let the merchant pass and continue on towards the assigned patrol grid. We move to about 100nm from Scapa Flow and sight a ship on the horizon. Intercept the merchant and it’s another Denmark merchant heading to England. We travel another 30nm and pickup another lone merchant. Intercept the merchant and sure enough it’s another freighter from Denmark heading for an English port destination. Every time we radio in the contact reports and I guess it falls on deaf ears at Headquarters… What is the penalty in GWX for taking matters into your own hands? Besides the negative renowned hit, can you actually be punished back in Port? :arrgh!:

I think it's only a renown hit.
If you hit a friendly ship, the penalty is pretty severe. It might end your career. :o |

Sounds like you're pretty early in the war....wait awhile and you won't see many friendlies around............Let em pass for now. Just try to imagine a real Capt getting just as excited about a contact, only to be dissappointed it wasn't a target......There will be more.........Good Hunting...........:up: |
Have had the exact same problem, but with Swedish Merchants. I actually hit it with two torps before I could see the flag and properly identify it. Whoops..:arrgh!:
