[tec] Wip Sub Zone Files
Hi,
First, thanks to DUCIMUS, KAKEMANN, NVDRIFTER, U-BONES for their works in this forum and to all modders. I dedicate this post to them. Today, fortunatly I find a new part in "subfiles.zon". This part seems concerns the hull armor. I have made a few tests and floading is less important, gameplay better, and repair more easy. Another effect is more the light flicking during the explosion of depth charge. In the original file Armor level is about 25 I have the best results with -1 I give you the link where download the files for mini tweaker for testing effect and modding files. http://magnin.j.free.fr/submarine.zip So that you can include it in your next mod. This file will be remove this week. C&C are welcome. :yep: Best Regards, Jean PS sorry for my English, I have to work. |

Mate - you just made my day! THANKS! This does seem to be the zones.cfg file equivilant - finally the file we needed to start getting more ability to fiddle with Damage Control #'s! Wonderful!!!! Great Job!

Actually this has always been here since sh3. It is my understanding that the zone.cfg compartment entries that used Armorvalue -1 were actually an instruction to use the Armor value for the hull that was set in the nss_*.zon file. Perhaps this is wrong, based on your observation about the native -1 being tougher than 25...
There are a lot of spheres and boxes that also have armor settings. Here is my listing for the s-18. (caution: every sub is different) I never bothered fishing out the details of each box and sphere, seemed pointless if you don't know how they are mapped to the boat. Let me add that I am totally against buffing the sub, it is often a knee jerk quick fix unless you know how everthing works. This path leads to subs that can duel DD's on the surface which is totally wrong. // Game version for these changes. Version=SH4 1.2 // Path to the file we are changing. Many thanks for your answers.
U-Bones, I agree with you, and like you, I just try to understand. I dont want buffing the sub but reduce the floading and improve the gameplay. I know that your work is more important than mine in the commity and I respect it. Many thanks for your information about "sub box" Jean |

What a wonderfull... finally the hiden armor place discovered ?
many thanks Jean74, and U-Bones for the discover ant tweak file.. !! I made tweakl file with you line U-Bones and have some strange values... some armor values are in example -1,00003 :hmm: Did i made some thing wrong with the file ? As U-Bone mentioned, touching the armor we cam make a Yamato submarine, we must to be careful. http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/7...3100018ez7.jpg |

1. The data is not used 2. The correct type is not single 3. The values have different meaning than we think. 4. A dev "tagged" certain zones with different values. 5. I have no idea what I am doing. 6. Combo of the above. All possibilities must include #5 ! |

Any way, even with these strange values, it is a step forward ! |
