Recommened mods

I finally decided to give GWX a go and was wondering what mods would run along side GWX to help improve the visual effects.

Thanks for any info :)

not sure there is much to improve graphics if thats what you mean, but then again there may be.

you can check into the U-boat skins, there are some great skin mods out there... im currently using STEEDS, type VII black grey and white colored one. There is a winter camo i use for winter months in the game by FUBAR, ISITOL also offers a nice curvey grey on grey cammo pack i have been known to use. good stuff there

thats about all i can offer up.

you can get SH3 commander and enhance immersion and game play.

I agree. One of GWX's appeal is the eye candy. The only graphic improvement mods I've installed are Sobers 3D waves and longer wakes. I've made some tweaks, like replacing the slide-out menu in the upper-left with the more colorful one in WAC (though it's probably available as a stand-alone). There are also uniform, torpedo color mods, as well as random intro screens.

There's a lot of tinkering one can do if you poke around in data\menu\gui. Just be sure to back up, or rename, the original files!

Have you got the GWX Skin Pack?

As mentioned,

Sober's Waves
NVDrifter's Longer Wakes
Kriller's Sun

Any & All of Fubar's Skins.

These just really compliment GWX as the graphics are about as good as they are going to get without performance drops.

Depth Charge Shake mod is cool. As well as the Open Hatch mods.

Thanks for the replies! Ill try to find those mods danlisa, thanks for the recommendation.

I have the open hatches mod, very cool :)

I was wondering if there are any good crew skins that work with GWX? Or at least ones with working link. Nearly all, if not all, links to crew skins are dead :(

Was also wondering where the water texture files are as I cant seem to find them 0_o I wanted to see if I couldn't use some of the SH4 water textures to improve that a bit (heck I dont play with water transparency in sh4 most of the time anyway :) )
