Is going through "The Strait" plain sailing?

What happens if instead of going back to Wilhemshaven, I sneak through Gibralter to an allied base in the Med? Will I then sail from that base in my next patrol?

and is getting through the straits of Gibralter in SH3 REALLY that simple? only i've not tried it yet as i'm working on a 7000 word report for uni due in on friday :( lol

I could be wrong but I think your playing GWX IIRC :hmm:
Going through 'The Strait' is a risky business (similar to The English Channel) :nope:
Personally speakng I wouldn't advise it :nope:

Don't listen to Jim. It is plain sailing, you can be on the surface all the way. Easy as that.:yep: See you on the 'other side'

If you see the light at the end of the tunnel, you're nearly there.:arrgh!:

Hi!

Getting through the Straits of Gibraltar can be fairly simple (default SH3) or fairly difficult (if you are using GWX in early 1944).

The one bright spot for Gibralter IMO is that it's fairly deep the whole way through.

Not middle of the ocean deep, but not bad either.

I once saw 'the light at the end of the tunnel'. There were several, coming out of the night. One of them was even in the air.

Didn't see much after that.

Sounds like my attempt to get through the straight. Things started making pinging noises and lots of explosions after that and continued to do so until I got out of the straight and into DEEP ocean.

Ah I did alright, Sunk 2 C-2s and then entered the strait on the surface, dived to PD

And got pinged by a DD

I had a bit of damage so I didn't dare to dive (they were armed, I just blew off the guns :rotfl: )

Got sunk there unfortunatley, damn DCs :shifty:

If you do get through and dock at an Axis base you will get a "null grid" assignment for your next patrol as your base will still be Wilhelmshaven.
