btw, do you have a source that doesn't link to "Jihad watch" ?

They were in talks with a man on the internet who claimed to have a source in the Russian Mafia?

Internet terrorism sounds a lot like internet dating.

Man was in talks with woman on the internet who claimed not to have a #$@% and a mustache.

Yes, if you'll go to the JW post and click on the source article link there, you'll find the media source to the news with no mention of JW. And that's the way it usually is, other than for JW opinion pieces.

Which terrorist doesn't want a "dirty bomb"? It would be the attack of the century. But if the UK is catching them before they can even blow a common fertilizer bomb, the nuke goal seems to be completely out of reach. At least now that everybody's alert and on watch.

Weeeeeeelllll

Fertiliser generally isn't a very clean substance....so technically it was a 'Dirty' bomb too.... :hmm:

Frankly though, it doesn't surprise me...dirty bombs are a potent weapon of terror.

Love the pic BTW Letum

ANFO is one of the easier explosives to make and unlike TATP and derivatives is very stable and safe to handle. The last year or 2 they have put additives into the fertiliser to try to make it less easy to make a bomb out of but Ammonium Nitrate can still be easily extracted and concentrated even from that.

As for a dirty bomb, yes you can get the stuff black market but there are plenty of legally available methods for extracting isotopes that can be used to do it. It doesnt need many resources and pretty much anyone can do it.

As a killing weapon, dirty bombs are pretty worthless.

As a terror weapon, however, they are excellent, especially when the media gets their hands on the info.:yep:

Economic weapon is their best use.

Since 11/9 they did studies about the effect of one in a financial or government centre such as central london, new york and washington.

The studies mainly found only 5-10 people killed in initial blast, maybe 20-30 as a result later of contamination (depending on weather, time of day, location etc) but the cleanup resulting in total evacuation for months or longer of the area, the possible demolition, cleaning the earth etc and lost business from that could be measured in tens of billions of dollars.

I thought dirty bombs were planes flying over cities dropping pornos? Or is that carpet dirty bombing?
