5 GWX Q's
1. Do radio messages have any link to your sub actions? I sunk a merchant and later recieved a radio message about SS ship abc pincking up survivors from SS xyz ship.
2. Using the hydrophone I picked up a constant high pitched sound, almost sounded like a radio playing static underwater. Any idea what that could of been? 3. Can you turn off the clock ticking sound while using the hydrophone? 4. Do merchants zig zag if they have not spotted you? 5. If a large merchant is sailing at night with NO lights on, would you not assume it's an enemy vessel up to no good? And if you sink 'said vessel' and later get a HUGE renown hit for it, is there anyone you can plead your case to? Hypothetically speaking of coarse. :o |
1. No.
2. Maybe a dolphin, but I never heard one myself. 3. I dunno. 4. They never did in my game. 5. A vessel with no lights is an enemy. 6. Use the search function. ;) |
5 depends, in the Med or near German waters....might be an ally, Italian or even German, I sunk an Italian once, spotted him at night, long range shot, didn't bother to identify sunk right away, Onkel Karl was not happy....:damn:

After all, you won't be listening for a ticking clock on the hydrophone. |

You are right stoli. The search function can be as frustrating as the usual suspects telling you to use it.
|
4. Merchants commence zig zagging when they are aware of an enemy in the vicinity....however, convoys do have waypoints which normally involves a change in course and can give the impression of zig zagging.
5. No, vessels that are lit up are obviously neutrals, however, there is no one to plead your case to. If you sink a neutral then you are considered an enemy by all vessels of said country for the next 24 hours. |
1) These messages are there for imersion and to add a sence of you not being alone out there like it feels like in stock.
2) Best bet is it was doplins 3)The only way to do this is to tweak that sound file. 4) Yes they do if they are enemy merchants. 5) Well you would think it was a enemy and attack it but i did just this off the coast of Portugal in 1940 and sunk a bloody US merchant BDU was not a happy bunny. |
I'd like to clarify a relevant matter here a little more.
Just because a ship is darkened/running with no lights on... does NOT automatically mean it is an enemy. In wartime, all combatants would run in blackout configuration. If a ship IS running with lights on... It is safe to assume it is neutral. You should not sink these ships. |

No halten here. As soon as you said you joined the ranks of the usual suspects. No worries I was already on the list too. Fact is, while the search function works now, it can be a very time consuming and cumbersome tool. If I am looking for something I use the search but often times don't find what I want or get side-tracked by something shiny it turns up.
