Hover your mouse pointer over the Damage Control Crew text label to the left of the crew boxes. A pop up will show hull integrity.
Perisher, you posted this in a damage thread. I need some clarification on this, maybe a screenshot. What damage control text are you talking about that I need to put the mouse over to see hull integrity?

perisher 04-28-07 06:46 PM

On the Crew Management Screen, there is the row of boxes for your damage control crew. To the left of which it says "Damage Control Team". If you put your mouse pointer over "Damage Control Team" for a couple of seconds you get a pop-up. If there is no hull damage it says "Damage Control Team" and then disappears, but if you have hull damage it will give you the damage on a 100 scale and the repair time, if it can be repaired.

Sorry I don't have the time to set up some damage and get a screen shot as I have to get some sleep before i go to work in 6 hours time. :o)

AVGWarhawk 04-28-07 07:23 PM

Got it! I never knew this was there. Awesome find man:rock: Thanks for clarifying that little ditty:up:

9th_cow 04-28-07 07:34 PM

so thats what that is, wonder why repair time is listed. its always set at 0

Redwine 04-28-07 07:37 PM

Yes... you must to check your flooding time must be under the repairing time i think so... removing wounded crew, adding skill crew, adding an Officer... to drop down the reapair time under the flooding time. :up:

AVGWarhawk 04-28-07 08:10 PM

Well, I got to see this work:oops: I repaired it showed nothing but damage control team on the pop up. I dived to 132 feet...sub folded up like tin can...before I floated away like an angel I got it to pop up showing 100/100:oops:

Next time as I decend after a repair I'm going to see if the pop up starts to show damage slowly unit 100/100 is hit. Maybe this is the key to see just how far you can decend after repairs. Who knows...it is a crap shoot anyway:roll:

At least the final death screen is correct now...nice statue and some fine words to honor my men:up:

Excellent! Slowly dissecting the damage control deal. The manual was so thorough......ah, never mind.....

Have you compared these numbers with the sub hull damage numbers shown in the save files ? Have you ever verified in save files that the the hull is repaired ? I am not sure if this is what you were saying.

U-Bones 04-28-07 09:19 PM

This piece of info is not correct. Hull damage is not exposed, at least not here.

The hull, or ship itself, simply reflects damage as a percentage 0.0 being perfect and 1.0 being 100% damaged. This is reflected at the top of every save file activeuserplayerunits.upc,

[UserPlayerUnit 1]
ID=S18
NameDisplayable=S-18

ExternalClassName=SSS18
Nationality=American
Evolution=Normal
Damage=0.140041

This reflects 14% damage to the hull. This particular sub has had no enemy contact, I have simply had it too deep for too long.

The Damage Control compartment, and all others, mouse float as simply their names, as it should be because there is no damage to any other compartment or equipment on the sub.

Damage Control is modeled just like the deck gun compartment (and i presume aa), being a compartmenttype 2, but other than that is like the other compartments. It has its own stats, including HP and damage. The float numbers coincide with that compartment's damage - not the hull.

On this particular sub, that has 14% hull damage, which is NOT reflected on the mouse over of any compartment, the Damage Control compartment shows this.

I did not test damage to this compartment, but I guarantee you that the mouse over numbers for this compartment simply point to itself - like all guns and all other compartments. It does not point to the hull damage.

I see what you're saying U-Bones. What about the maintenance and repair co-efficients?

MaintenanceCoef=0.014400
RepairsCoef=0.072000

Are these reflecting the damage that needs repaired? Maybe once repairs are initiated these two come into play?

I'm a little confused I guess...
Whether the values are being interpreted properly...or not.

These are common compartment properties. This particular compartment just happens to be damage control... I have no idea exactly how they are used. (but they exist from the second your boat is created, so they are not a reaction to any condition)

Here is how the compartment is defined at load from NSS_S18.upc

[UserPlayerUnit 1.Compartment 2]
CompartmentType= 1
StatusActive= Yes
ID= S18CommandRoom
NameDisplayable= Control Room
Type=NULL
FunctionalType= CommandRoom
MechanicalCoef= 0.4 ;0..1
ElectricsCoef= 0.2 ;0..1
GunsCoef= 0 ;0..1
WatchmanCoef= 0.4 ;0..1
WatchStandingCoef= 0.048
MaintenanceCoef= 0.0144
RepairsCoef= 0.072

ReloadingweaponCoef= 0.072
SleepCoef= -0.12
LeadersSlots=3
CrewMembersSlots= 12
EffciencyDenominator=4
EffciencyDenominatorBS=8
Hitpoints=200
CrewExposure=0.1
EquipmentsExposure=0.1
WeaponsExposure=0.1
ExternalDamageZoneTypeID3D= 32
...

But don't get distracted from the point. The damage on mouseovers is compartment specific. True hull damage. like what I demonstrated, never gets displayed, or if it is, we have not discovered where...

I'm not sure what I'm saying either Mr. UBones:oops: . All I know, is my sub was repaired. I put the mouse over the text and nothing showed other than the text, crew damage managment. No numbers. I submerged and at 132 feet the pop now shows 100/100. I do not know if this means hull or total submarine????? Everything was going to crap at that time. Now, it looks like you have a good grasp on the inner workings of the game(see all your numbers above) just what does all this mean? Does this number in the pop up indicate total damage to the sub? If so, it this number that pops up showing say 80/100 your pretty much screwed and should head home? I don't know. Damage control man, take one step forward and three steps back with it:shifty:

I will next time I get a chance. I was busy attempting to get my sub damaged by aircraft...my AA gunner is pretty good.

Remove them from their battlestations, or run the Photo Recon mission, against 2 dangerous Akizuki DDs .... go stright ahead to the Dds, submerge and make noise at full speed. :up: You will have damage enough ! :up:
