HELP!
Hi All,
I'm in the middle of the GWX campaign (Nevember 1940) in Silent Hunter 3. I have attacked a large convoy marked with a ring (not a box as usual!), just West of Gibraltar. I had to leave the game so I saved and quit. Now, when I try to load my save game I get an error message saying there has been a critical error and the game crashes to desktop! It happened twice already!!! I use SH3 Commander 2.7 and I don't roll back every time I quit the game (99% of cases I am safe in my home port). I have not been adding ANY mods lately so rolling back is not needed. Basically, I haven't touched the game's folder at all! :( What is happening? Why can't I load my save game? What can I do? Does this have something to do with the fact that the convoy I attacked was marked with a circle instead of a box? BTW, all it's escorts were on fire so I assumed they have been attacked by another u-boot... Now I know it was a bug... right??? Please, help! I'm desperate!!! |

Well saving to close to convoys and other ships has been know to cause Ctd's this goes right back to stock SH3. Way before GWX hit the scene.
As a rule of thumb you should never save your game when you are: 200km or less from land. near/ in sight of convoys or ships that you have just sunk. ( ie you have got the shes going down message but she has not sunk. when you are sumberged. I really feel for you mate, I came across a convoy like you did it had been attacked by a wolfpack the large circle on the nav map. i sunk the whole convoy was up to 90,000t and had torps to spare. But a bit later i saved while i was to soon after a sinking a ship and i became a victim of the save game bug.:nope::damn::damn: |
^^ ah so thats the general guidelines.
I too dont bother saving mid patrol in GWX as the saved game i've tried mid patrol will not load. I dont even get an error message, it just says "not too long ago" then i'm back in the desktop and you'd never know I was even in SH3! Unfortunately now this means my patrols normally take the good majority of a day to complete. Maybe thats a good thing..... |
