Waterline Effect?

Just curious, in some early screenshots of SH4 I saw that the waterline had some kind of softening effect to look like the waterspray on the side of the hull. This took away the look of a waterline as an actual distinct line along the ship.
An example screenshot is this one. It definately made the ship/water interface much more believable and fluid.

I never saw this effect in any of the final releases of SH4.
Which look more like this....

Seems like Ubisoft has an intern capable of using Photoshop.:)

I suspect some touch up for sure:yep:

I would suspect target renders or concept art. The smoke is way nicer looking in the pre-release stuff aswell.

do you have white peaks or whatever its called on ? detailed wave effects ?
my white line isnt quite that fancy but it is indeed there.

Enable ship causting effects...
You ll see it when sun is shining mainly, so no photoshop work.

I have everything enabled with a 8800GTS. It still doesn't show that type of interface between the water and the boat.

I would love to see some in game screenshots from the community to back up the above.......

Not quite the same effect as the first shots in this thread.

Yes, those images have been created by the artists in the marketing department. But they started from a real screenshot of SH4.

Those types of effects can be done, but the game is already putting heavy strain on the video card and it can't handle the game of it's older than a year. Not everybody updates their computer once a year :)

Its exactly the same... i dont have turned on effects like post process filtering etc. Look at waterline. OP wanted to see waterline effects and there they are...

And btw, on my first picture, there ARE waterline effects, on second there ARENT. Just as comparison.

im pretty sure its based on the realistic waves effect.
it shows up at most angles. and depths, you wont see it if your sat still.
its also a little dependend on where you are, this is very clear water, its not ussually this obvious around here. ussually its most obvious when your in rougher seas.
obviously its not touched up in photo shop, but its always been in the game.

okies try again with a jpeg instead..
