New to Silent hunter 3 and got a Question.

Ive started a career and its now late 1940 and I still havent run into a convoy I only seem to find single ships or single destroyers etc.

Havent seen a real warship (Battleship, cruiser,Carrier etc) yet.

Is this normal?

1.4 patched by the way.

I have been playing it for more than a year and havent seen a single 'real' warship. Had a report of one, but never saw it. As for convoys, it can take a while, but stick to hunting near the convoy routes. What kind of U-boat are you using?

It depends on where you're patrolling. If you're in a Type II and are patrolling off of the British East coast then you won't see a convoy. Thats single shipping areas. The convoys are in the Western Approaches and thats a type VII and IX kinda job.

Im in a Type VIIB.

Try positioning yourself in the upper right hand corner of BE39. At this point, you'll catch ships coming from Halifax and the U.S., as well as ships coming out of the British Isles. I usually hit a good number of convoys coming out there. As far as task forces, try off the coast in AM. They usually come in and out near Loch Ewe and Firth of Clyde areas.
:lurk:

I'm currently off southern Portugal, fairly close (but not too close ;)) to the entrance to the Med. It's July 1940 and there are lots of convoys with large merchants and large tankers (rubs hands). They do however have quite strong escorts...

As for BBs etc. the Revenge I sank earlier in this career was in the middle of a convoy in the Western Approaches. Also got a Fiji cruiser inside Loch Ewe. Have also seen but not attacked Task Forces in the North Sea.

This is all with GWX not stock.

I was gonna get GWX but i got a question first, will it run on a no cd cracked version of the game (no no I own the game just i no cd all games that I dont plan on playing multiplayer on so I can lend the game to friends if they want to play)

Vacillator 04-27-07 03:16 AM

Methinks though art risking a rebuke! Such talk is frowned upon here. Not my rules, just the way it is!

Packerton 04-27-07 04:24 AM

So even though I own a retail boxed copy of the game...a No cd crack is still a problem?
