French E-Voting Problems...
Wow - things are going down the tube over there. I think this will also happen in the US at some point.
-S French parties call voting machines a 'catastrophe' Several French political parties demanded the withdrawal of electronic voting machines for the second round of the presidential election after widespread problems during Sunday's ballot. - http://www.physorg.com/news96567089.html Protesters sue to stop use of French e-voting machines Voters are concerns about the nature of e-voting and it is being introduced to France - http://www.infoworld.com/article/07/...chevote_1.html |
We had a massive row over e-voting a few years ago. Spent 50m euro on it, then junked the lot.
*sigh* I suppose we never hear anything good about them, because good voting news has nothing to do with the methods :hmm: Should I dig out that Diebold quote? :p |

I think that you should need to represent yourself in person when you vote. And then it should be represented by a tangible mark that can be verified by a human being.
In Canada its simple. You put an 'X' in the circle and thats it. No dangling chads or connect the lines or digital displays. Its hard enough to get people to think about voting. I don't see why we need to complicate it anymore. Sometimes the status quo works just fine. |
Does the French Parliament amend the constitution using E-vote machines or by ballot?
If the politicians themselves don't use E-voting, why should we?! |
Let them eat chad.
