Remapping keys - without mods
I'm needing to remap my time compression keys as I've moved from a desktop to a gaming laptop, and wondering if it's possible to remap without using any of the mods that are floating about?
|
Well you still need to do the same thing as the mods do - edit commands.cfg (in the data/cfg/ folder).
Does anyone know if the old SH3 Keymapper program works? |
Fair enough. I don't mind going in and doing it manually if anyone can enlighted me to as to the files.
|
SHIV/Data/Cfg/Commands.Cfg is the only file needed.

Edit: This is the way I use it with it still being installed for SH3 in its default install setup. |

I confirmed this by restoring the original commands.cfg and both radio and gramophone worked again. Then loaded and saved the .cfg with SetKeys, without changing any mappings, and both were broken again. It may break other things also, but nothing that I've noticed. DH |
Thanks for the heads up DH! I don't play the radio or gramaphone so I didn't catch that.

No prob Darkfin!
Since I found that out, what I do is I've made a copy of my current commands.cfg in another folder, and I edit the copy with SetKeys and save it. Then just load the copy and the real commands.cfg into my editor, and copy/paste whatever I changed from the copy into the real one. Pain in the *ss, but it works and don't break anything. And probably takes me less time than trying to look up the hex codes and get the syntax right :D Adapt and overcome, right? DH |
