patched vanilla

What is this patched VANILLA that some are talking about am i missing something good, as i am running v1.03 GWX. please

Kaleun Cook 04-22-07 08:40 AM

the term "vanilla" describes the original version. so the patched vanilla should be stock sh3 + 1.4 patch. you're missing nothing.

aloe1 04-22-07 08:41 AM

ah i see thank you

Jimbuna 04-22-07 08:49 AM

Hang with GWX.............The best.......it rocks......

The thing I find funny about the terminology is that Vanilla is a blimming beautiful flavour. I mean french vanilla ice cream with those lovely little specs of black in it is just gorgeous, especially if you've got some strawberries.

I dunno why we don't jsut call it Bland SH3 instead.

Vanilla ice cream with a dollop of cognac or brandy, aaach. It becomes GWX. :sunny:

P_Funk 04-23-07 12:36 AM

Just a dollop? Are you flaming mad? How about a whole shunt of COG-NAC?

My grandpa told me stories about how in Holland at the end of The Great War, part 2 ;), they got a big pile of congac from some daft soldier. He walked up to them and said
"I got a bunch of this 'Cog-Nac' stuff. I'm looking to trade her for some Calvadose."
Now obviously he was a moron since well aged Cognac is much better than Calvadose that's barely older than the war. So they traded a small stash of Calvadose for alot of aged Cognac. Apparently from then on they put Cognac in everything, even morning tea. Once apparenlty the Seargent-Major came by and they said

"Can we make yo a cup of tea sir?".

He obliged and without him seeing they put in as much Cognac as tea. When the Seargent-Major took a swig his eyed went wide and he remarked,

"Thats the best damn cup of tea I've ever had!".

Hey, I'm one of the guys playing patched vanilla :x Tried a GW mod sometime back & the game ran so slooooow.. Ended up having to delete everything & reinstalling the game & the 1.4B patch.. Miss the eye candy, but really enjoy playing the game at a decent speed & no CTD's.. Running the system on a 2.8 GHZ w/ 1 gig of ram & middle of the road video card w/ updated drivers..

Good Hunting!!

That's what keeps me from playing with GWX too.

P_Funk 04-24-07 07:47 AM

I dunno why you guys are having issues with playbility. I have a rig with a 2.4 Ghz processor, 512 of ram, and a measly ATI x1600. I get great frames even in harbour with GWX. Loading times from my desktop to in the u-boat are like 12 minutes but once in its all good.

And if it was TGW that you tried, GWX is much improved in the speed department. During beta testing it was noticed that though there was significantly more included in the game, it ran faster than TGW. Still slower than stock but not bad.

My framerate drops when looking into heavy flames i.e. of a shot tanker. set the particles down to a minimum now but that just looks boring. still have to find out a cool compromise. :/

Personally I prefer Armagnac, but it's a matter of taste, of course:hmm:

At least you're better than half the people I meet in the clubs. The bloody fools are all drinking Budweiser. :-?

I was once at a pub with some school friends and I was sitting next to a few guys I didn't know and they were sipping some Kokanee and they said to me:
"Whats that dark thing you're drinking?"
"Guiness" I said.
"I dunno how you drink that stuff"
I replied, "I dunno how you drink that either".
