I don't watch films on my PC so I don't give a toss anyway. :smug:

Who is "they" ?

If "they" invented the software then why shouldn't they charge for it's use?

I watch DVDs on my PC via winamp or VCL Player without problem and I have never paid for it.

I don't know the ins an outs of DVD Decoders for PCs.

But if I needed to buy one to be honest...I would.

I voted yes, though not exactly.

I figure if I buy a DVD-ROM or any computer with one there should be an OEM that comes with it at no extra charge. Sometimes this is the case and sometimes not depending on manufacturer and model. It should be for every single one.

At least the software people are making a bit of a kickback from the part/pc manufacturer in this case, and the manufacturer is making my money.

Everyone is happy!

Likewise, I play them with freeware programs (in my case, either VLC or MPC players). Don't see why I need to bother with more expensive AND technically inferior solutions :hmm:

And uh

Am I the only one who thought this was yet another 'PC madness! Government fails culture because...' thread?

I used to use Power Dvd (even bought the deluxe edition) but to make it work with non region 2 dvd's was a pain in the ass.
When i found out about VLC I was in heaven.
VLC doesn't care about region codes, and it works in windows and linux.
After that I ditched Power DVD. :rotfl:
