Crew qualifications system change..is this possible?

Would it be possible to modify the game so that every crew member would have Qualification ? Like Officers have now 3 slots and NCOs have 1.

I'm thinking about Seamen having 1 qualification (since everyone is trained for their speciality, especially in sub), NCO having 2, and Officers 3.

I know I could make all crew NCOs and Officers...but...;) It'd make crew management bit more interesting too, IMHO. Now there is no difference using machinist on bridge or helm and vise versa.

Well yes and no or more correctly no and yes.

regular crewman dont carry a qualification
in there cfg set up, however to effectively do this
I had increased the allotment allowed of ncos. so as
to be able to provide higher skillsets and response times
as good as possible. however the two things that matter
most here I think are. first and least you need regular crewman
if you want to use auto deployment from say fwd crewquarters
to the deckgun for example, if you have all ncos then you
have to manually move them from station to station
excepting in that correct qualifications will move.gunners to guns
engineers to engines and so on. I used the set up to put an officer
a medic and a repair specialist in every room because when I was
increasing the allotment for ncos on my sub I simultaneously
increased the officer capacity of my boat.

the second though and more important point is that aside from
the advantage of a repair and medic in everyroom, the issue
is a little Mooted by the fact that once the station status bar
shows top efficiency you cant really exceed that. it wont
go 110% efficient only 100%, unless of course you start to
mod other things than the crew.

so yes its possible but the advantage is more marginal than
you might think. Or at least in as far as I took it.

Use SH3Cmdr. You can award NCO's two quals and crewmen one.

HOWEVER, pls be advised that whilst SH3 will recognise these extra quals, they will have no effect on crew performance (an SH3 limitation). From the SH3Cmdr readme...

A common question raised through forums has been "will my Crew Manager changes be recognised within Silent Hunter III?". To answer this question:
- awarding *any* qualifications to officers impacts compartment efficiency as if they were awarded via Silent Hunter III;
- awarding the *first* qualification to a Chief Warrant Officer impacts compartment efficiency as if awarded via Silent Hunter III;
- awarding subsequent qualifications to a Chief Warrant Officer, whilst being recognised in Silent Hunter III, has no effect in Silent Hunter III;
- awarding a qualification to a Petty Officer impacts compartment efficiency as if awarded via Silent Hunter III;
- awarding a qualification to a seamen, whilst being recognised in Silent Hunter III, has no effect in Silent Hunter III;
- awarding any medal or badge has the same effect as if awarded via Silent Hunter III;
- promoting/demoting has the same effect as if awarded via Silent Hunter III (although there is no demotion via Silent Hunter III);

So, only qualifications awarded to seamen or extra qualifications awarded to Chief Warrant Officers are, despite being recognised in the game, not effective in the game.

Now, whilst these qualifications are not effective in Silent Hunter III, they are still handy "markers". Also, I know of some people who believe that despite not being recognised towards compartment efficiency, Silent Hunter III tends to align these qualified seamen to their respective compartments, but I haven't tested that myself.

It's about as good as you are gonna get.

Grr... :lol:

OK, making all crewmembers as NCOs and Officers ? And same time adjusting the effects ?
