Silent Steel. Please can anyone help?

Hi. I've purchased a brand new sealed in box copy on DVD of Silent Steel the Tsunami game from 1995.

I've read on this forum that it plays find under XP. I've tried it on XP, W98 and W95 and at all times the game GUI loads (you can select your choice and hear the 'Captains' voice) but the DVD playback is missing - just a blank screen.

If you try to access the .vob files directly all you get is a message that they are corrupt.

The ebay seller has opened up another on (as I said they were all sealed) and says that it's happening for him too.

His suggestion is that it's todo with modern motherboards = those that support Ultra DMA will NOT allow the DVD .vob files to be played.

Please can anyone help shed some light on this?

Thanks

Great choice of game. I have the 4 disc version.

Have you tried playing on a normal DVD player?
