does your hydrophone work at all?
I can't pick up ships 500 feet away manually or with crew assistance, even while submerged at 0 kts in silent running mode. Only happened since 1.2, seemed fine before.
|
Mmm...no, mine works perfectly well. Got a DD from almost 6.000m last night by hydrophone.
|
make sure your periscope is down, or your crew wont do it.
|
Also, hydrophones don't work until you are BELOW periscope depth.
|
Have to wait a few seconds at persicope depth before it kicks in, then it works just fine, even works quite well while moving along fairly swiftly, although distinguishing stuff on a fast sweep is harder that way.
Having said that, I'm not sure how realistic this is, as I imagine it would have probably worked to some degree at any depth as long as the transducers were actually underwater. |
Pscope depth was 16mts in 1.1 but its 17 or more in 1.02, in 1.1 I went to PsD and nothing on the phones took her down 1mts more to 17 and they work. Only thing is in heavy seas you need to be about 15mts down to get a clear view of ships any lower and wave after wave is washing over your Pscope.

To get an initial reading from hydrophones, I do have to be below periscope depth, it seems. But once I get a contact, I can go to periscope depth, watch the target thru the periscope, and ask for updates, and I'll get sonar updates regularly. Only if I then return to the sonar room and manually move the hydrophones around (with Home/End keys) do I lose the contact.
So, they do sometimes sorta work at periscope depth, for me anyway. |
Thanks for the info, I'll try it. Though I should note that this is a 1.2 change. Hydro at PD worked fine before.

This could also be a BAD 1.2 patch install. From reading some of the posts
here, I think many people have had bad installs. I know I did when I first installed the game. Had to uninstall and reinstall everything, that fixed it... JIM |
