Does 1.2 fix automated target speed calculator?
I see nothing in the readme, somewhat to my surprise, as this appeared to be a design feature awaiting full implementation.
If the target speed calculator is non functional could somebody please help me with the following: i. What is the best "rule of thumb" for target speed calculation? ii. Should I set measurement units to metric or imperial for the above? iii. Does the plotter overlay I've seen posted here work with the recent patch? I'm only interested in full manual TDC/PK, no aids. As ever, thanks, gents. |
Unfortunately it's not fixed in this patch, no.

Some methods in here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=108931
Personaly I eyeball it, Works terrible. I hate math:down: |
I use the 3:15 method. Its easy and the only math involved is doubling a number. If you're using map contact updates, then it's a snap.
First, use the marker on the nav map to put a mark on the bow of the ship you're tracking. Immediately start the stopwatch. You may now safely lower your periscope. Wait 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Be sure to pop your scope back up early so you're ready to mark your target's new position. At 3:15 put another mark on your nav map on the bow of the ship you're tracking. Use the ruler to measure the distance between the two points. Double this number and drop any decimals. There's your target's speed in knots. Easy, huh? :know: |
I was a bit disappointed to find this not patched yesterday too, but it's not the end of the world...it just takes a little more time to get the speed.
Here's what I've done (can't take credit for it, instructions are here on the forum):
