I just installed SH3 and SH4 today on a new machine after over a year of playing AOD [DOS].

All I can say, is "wow"!

The step up in graphics from the simple "see it in your my mind eye's" of AOD to SH3 leaves me without words! So far, I have only installed the stock 1.4b and haven't played any, but I am looking forward to getting started. Although I installed SH4 1.1 too, I think I will let that mature for a while and when I have the time get up to speed on SH3.

In any case, I still plan to play AOD from time to time as I have DOSBOX running so nicely on my new machine/dual monitor system. In fact, Bdu just ordered me in to attack a convoy last night. I would be derelict if I left to the other subs in the wolf pack to go in without me.

Then save some more "O" for lengthening your WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW when you try GWX or NYGM.

AOD still rules however in terms of wolfpack action and some inmersion aspects :up:

I highly recommend the GWX super mod for SH3. SH4 is a mere pup in the woods at the moment but also very good for what it is at present.

AGree with AVG 100000000000% here. GWX will blow your MIND!! SH4...well unless you play at 1024X768, looks like the bears arse at the moment. But after the next patch with High res enabled and FSAA..... hold onto your torpedo... SH4 will be one hot puppy too!

After the patch Im going to have the problem of WHICH SH to play :yep:

Got SH3 (GWX :rock:) and SH4.........expected better than what was served in 4, but it's still early days and I'm sure there's a lot more to come in the future :arrgh!:
