Radar bearings

:-? I've done a quick search of forum & don't seem to find the answer to this question. When the radar operator gives a contact bearing & range, what are the considered distances for long, medium & short range (obviously within sight of in good weather) & what is the bearing - relative or true bearing according to the subs position? At present I'm running a porpoise class boat early 1942.

Any time your radar operator or watch crew calls out a bearing its relative bearing.
