Has 'Jacal' anything to do with SH4?

It is a folder I've seen.

I don't believe I have 'Jacal' in my SH4 folder. Might wan't to do a virus scan if you aren't sure.

I noticed Jacal and Maplom when I installed SH4 it appeared in my registry, but atleast it doesnt affect my DVD and game from running. cause you know how Securom doesnt like those types of programs running. It seems to have dissappeared recently. but then I see it appear again.

My copy of SH4 appears to be Jacal free.

I don't have it either. It's probably unrelated to SH4.

I have it on my rig.


It appears in my registry when i play SH4, and stay there until i shut down the machine or restart.

I made a virus and spyware scan and no problem at all.

What is this Jacal/Maplom thing ? :hmm:

Today, i have a totally new hard disk, so i reinstalled my system from scratch. The only game i have yet is SH4.


I can confirm that Jacal/Maplom regkey is related to SH4.


While i'm sure it is not a danger at all ( cause related to the game, deluxe version, europe), i wonder to know what it is exactly. So please, if you have some clues, say it there.


What do you mean "kind of program" ??

I made a very few search on this, and the only thing i find is a "JacKal" (with a K) related, and don't really understand what it is ..


Maybe SH4 put this in the registry to prevent some "strange" stuff to run ??

When I had done some saves ( encountered some Heavy Cruisers:D :up: ) I got a CTD and the 2 last games refused to load, i.e. CTD----> Restart game---> Load in Menu---> Please Wait----> CTD.

I did some extensive Virus checks, Zone Alarm - Virus/Spyware and Registry Clean ups with Registry Fix, Ace Utility ( my computer is extremly clean:D ) and got no virus warnings. Started 4 other games and played about 30 minutes each with no problems at all. (SH3GWX/Oblivion/Stalker/Fear/)

The 2 last saves I did in Sh4 refused to load, though, a save that was done just prior to these 2 saves had no problems to start, so that save was no problem.
I did restart this particular save and I could play on without any more CTD/refusal to load game.
Either the save I did, saved the CTD error(crash)/and/or some instability issue is occurring at some points in the game when saving. Going to keep an eye on it.

While i have this in the registry, i have no stability issue at all, even with save games.

Jacal - as in "gamejackel" perhaps? The game updating application? I dont install that when I install - and dont have this folder. My guess is the game updating app is a version (perhaps a company that bought the old gamejackal) and never updated the installer to rename the folder. Just a guess.
