[REQ] Need a new crew voice for "Ahead 2/3"
I'm tired on correcting the quartermaster every time I order "Ahead 2/3" and he replies "Ahead Slow". Can someone replace with with a file that says "Ahead 2/3" ? If this has already been posted in this forum, please let me know and I'll merge this.
Thanks Neal |
I agree  thats really annoying...Im also tired of the "yes sir" every time I give an order...I mean hey, Im a sub skipper, don't call me sir, I work for a living. Id much rather hear "aye, aye" or "aye skipper"
I hope someone is working on this :hmm: Cheers |
That "Yes, Sir!" thing annoyed me so much in SH3 that I turned all those files into blanks. It was worst when I ordered a crash dive and the chief said "Jawhol, Herr Kaleun!" before he shouted "Alaaaarm!"
As to the Americans, some one might say "Aye aye, Sir!" before responding to an order, but he's more likely to say it the other way: "All ahead two-thirds, Aye, Sir!" |
Did some "FAST" searching on http://www.altavista.com/audio/default
not much "Aye Sir" with Scotty from Star trek and some other weird stuff :p But I got some "Sub" films I might sift through them and see what I can find. |
When I stood wheelhouse/lookout duty on a Canadian NAvy ship we said "Sir" at the end of every comeback.
It has been years, but I seem to recall that when the bridge ordered a turn we repeated it without sir - but when the evolution was completed we notified the bridge with a sir at the end. NOTE: The wheelhouse was below decks at the center of the ship's mass, not on the bridge. We used electronic/voicepipe comms. Bridge: Port 30 WHeelhouse: Port 30 -turn helm to port 30 Wheelhouse: 30 the port wheel on, Sir. -or- Bridge: Revolutions 220 Wheelhouse: Revolutions 220 - set engine counter to 220, wait for engine room to repeat WHeelhouse: Engine counter indicates 220, Sir. etc. etc or something similar |
I have been wondering, when did 2/3 get added to the telegraph ?
I thought it was... Ahead Slow (steerage speed) Ahead 1/3 Ahead Standard (max efficiency setting usually well under 2/3) Ahead Full Ahead Flank |

http://www.silent-hunter.org/bestanden/man-shce.pdf As for the sound file, someone can use their best John Wayne imitation and record "Ahead 2/3", that would be fine. |

You can pan and zoom in the USS Cod (Gato class) Manuvering Room and clearly see Stop 1/3 2/3 Standard Full Flank I have looked for this before without success. http://www.usscod.org/graphics/maneuvering_room.mov |
