Calling in contact report
If you call in a contact report, will allied aircraft/surface units attack the contact?
|
I've seen a post or two that said yes, but I have not seen it happen...
this appears in aircraft.cfg: Friendly Air Strike Probability Increase on Contact Report Sent=70 ;[>0] Increase over the default probability on a contact message sent I would assume this is a % chance for it to happen. |
I assume so (I can personally attest to the fact that it happened in SH3), but remember you need to be within the range of an allied airbase.
|
And only if a friendly airbase is in range as well.
EDIT: What mookiemookie said... |
Thanks,
I'll try this next time I meet the parameters. |
They really need to fix the contact reporting system.
I left Midway yesterday and ran into a Jap task force only 200 miles out. I sank a cruiser, and by time I surfaced I was unable to send any report except for a normal patrol report.:shifty: Seems like Midway might be interested in an enemy task force right on their doorstep. :o |

Some other things can happen as well when you call one in:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=111309 Now, I don't know what the limits are on contact reports. I was only able to call in one on that convoy, even though I'd lost contact with it as I made the end around. Either you have to have eyes on the main body (radar contact or visual contact only with escorts not counting), you can only call in one contact report per ship/group, or X amount of time has to pass between reports. I can't say which. I suspect the latter. |
I cant figure out how to send a report.....
