Ocean Depth on Nav Map Mod?

Hi all,

Fairly new to SH3, had about 1 month of play in before I encountered the Starforce problem, which is now fixed (by starforce techs, not ubi) thankfully after almost another whole month of not being able to play. Anyhow ...
I've installed both GWX and NYGM (as seperate installs, I just change the folder names to switch installs, including save games folder and SH3 Commander folder), and will be playing primarily GWX 'cause I want to stick with the renown system for now. But this is mostly irrelevant to my question.
which is:
Are there any mods out there (not that I've found yet), or any way for ME to mod, for the Nav Map to indicate numerically the charted ocean depths. I find it irritating to need to be doing a sounding all the time to get even a vague idea of how deep the ocean is at my location, whatever it may be. I'm pretty darn sure they had at least some idea back then of general ocean depths, and that that info was probably included on their charts.

Besides, aren't escorts able to pick up my pings when I do a depth reading? Or is that not implemented?
Regardless, I feel general depth curves with numbers should be indicated on the Nav Map.

Thanks much. And great job to both GWX and NYGM teams. Once again the modders 'fix' a game to realize the potential greatness of a stock game fiasco.

I sure hope I don't have anymore starfarce problems ...

Thanks again.

The color of the map indicated depth. Go to the nav-map screen (F5) and take a hold of the marker tool (then one that looks like a pencil drawing a line). It has a color scale on it usefull for comparison during day light hours (the red litght at night makes the scale useless). Make sure you haven't pressed the "Tool helper" icon (?) or the scale will go away.

Thanks, interesting. The color scale includes numbers then? Also, I'd still like clearer delineation of the depth curves on the Nav Map. Would I need to do this myself then? How, and would it be incompatible with the mods?

One other question i thought of, is there ever any reason to not set a torp to its fastest speed? I mean, who really fires from more than 2000 meters?

Again, thanks. Subsim forums are always so quick with the response. Yay!!

On a convoy attack it can be useful to set different speeds when shooting at targets at different ranges so that the impacts happen at the same time to avoid the zigzagging after first hits...

Ya you can do that, but you can also just target the furthest ships first and move inward for the same effect.
