GWX Friendly Convoy - Not!

Hi, I had a friendly convoy displayed (Blue circle) on nav map, it was close so I thought I would intercept, and discovered, after being shot at, that all the ships were British, date is October 1940, Grid CG88, is this a known error?:-?
Thanks.

If its a circle then the radio report is coming from a Uboat
AI

Just means an AI uboat is in contact and thats where your report is coming from

It's a definite error.....but sadly it's yours :rotfl:

Recce dont worry mate i too have made silly mistakes like going to go through the English channel on the surface. Stupid you say but i was just out of base on the 1st of Sept 39 and had got to the Dover region before War was delced. Then Forgot what date it was then found myself on the surface playing games with 4 DD's and 4 Torpedo boats. You can take it i have never tryed that again.

Thanks All. I just assumed that the Red markers were enemy & Blue was friendly .... I assumed wrong! It is Easter Jim so I just might take you up on the drinks, cheers.

bigboywooly 04-08-07 07:39 PM

Thats cos you have non GWX coloured markers on

:rotfl:

Otherwise it would have been grey and you wouldnt have known

If you see one in future and get there quick enough you should see some AI subs in battle with the convoy

Or a load of burning ships minus a few escorts but all extremely pissed off and on a state of alert

Reece 04-09-07 12:08 AM

As a matter of fact there were a few damaged & 1 damaged cruiser left (but not for long)! Have come accross a couple of task forces but always that bit too fast for me to catch them, will have to head them off at a greater speed & angle!
Damn good campaigns though!:yep:

I had a most peculiar experience yesterday, I spotted a Red Cross hospital ship and a USA troop carrier and went closer to get some good screenies, and BOOM the troop ship started firing at me with all cannons although it was in 07/10/1940 and the Yanks are supposed to be neutral???

They are indeed neutral

Had you sunk an American ship in the previous 24 hours ?

Yes, actually.
It was a mistake (in a convoy, original target zig-zagged out of the torpedo's way, and it hit an American cargo ship instead).

bigboywooly 04-10-07 02:48 PM

If you sink a neutral ship you become an enemy of that country for 24 hours
