Is there a special way to fire electrics??

I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to fire electirc torpedos to get them to hit their targets.

I'm firing them exactly the same way I do with my steamers.....but they always coast right in front of the ship, just missing it.
Sometimes I fire with the crosshairs just ahead of the ship, sometime with them sitting right on the tip of the ships nose.

Should I try aiming further back to have some success with firing electric torpedos in getting them to hit?

I don't understand your question... you fire with the crosshairs ahead of the ship and then wonder why they coast right in front of the target?

That seems like normal behaviour to me :hmm:

Aim for the center of mass and see what happens

Aim where you want to hit -- I use strictly electrics. I aim (in most easy cases) at foremost mast=one torpedo, one ship sunk.

For difficult shots -- magnetic under the keel at diagonal AOB = mosy of the time 1 torpedo per ship sunk. :D

the problem being, whenever i've done this with steamers, even aiming slightly ahead.....they ALWAYS hit. but it seems different with electrics :S

as i've mentioned before, i'm guessins its becuase they travel slower than the steamers.

There is a game bug that affects electrics I was made aware of recently.
before you fire them make sure you click on the speed indicator. It won't change their speed but corrects the gyro angle I belive.

 1) Did u press 'Q' to open torp. tubes before firing? Failure to do so may cause the fish to miss astern

2) Aim a torpedo at two different part of the boat instead of aiming all of them at the middle as it increases rate of flooding and eventually sinking. Fascinating explosion of ships is rare once the game is modded (by some realism one, of course). Just a friendly remainder... :hmm:

3) Did the ship started evasive movements? (i.e. they spotted your fish? you hit another ship in that convoy before?) if so, then you need some adjustments to the fish. The adjustments may include changing a little bit of the gyro, and reduces the range before firing and so on. You need some experiences before you can do it in a successful rate. (For me, the hitting probability is 60%)

4) Find that Bernard who always alters fish settings and ask Donitz to send him to Stalingrad  :rotfl:

Just came back from a successfull first patrol. Took some advice and fired for forward masts with my first torp, then fired teh other 3 down the length of the ship......amazingly they all hit and all exploded!!!! That Medium Cargo sunk like a rock shortly after ;)

My first sinking with Eleccy torps :D

Gratz! :D

A hit under the forward mast will usually send the ship to the bottom within 8-15 minutes with the use of one torpedo. :smug:
