Gar, Gato,where are they?
 

Anyone else getting the Tambor for every sub you select? I've tryed everything to get to the Gato, Gar, anything but the Tambor in early and Balao in the later years..... Does anyone know what file I have to modify to play those subs?

You must not be trying hard enough, because my first camp was in a gar from pearl at start of war. My 2nd was a Tamor from pearl same time. And My current Gato was from pearl around 42.

If you worried about what they look like, not much difference. For instance the Gar and Tamor look the same. The Gato does too, whith the only difference being the back end does not look the same.

You should not have to modify any files at all. It can depend upon where you start the war. Have you started at Pearl? There are more options there than in the Asiatic fleet.

Maybe I should re-install, I've tryed different years, different missions and even the campaign, quick missions and the war patrols still give me the tambor or Balao class. I can tell the difference in the shears, fairweather, cigarette deck etc. I know my subs so its kinda frustrating. I'll try a re-install and see if I have any luck.

Although I orginally intended to take an S-boat for my 1st career I changed my mind and decided to start in 43 out of Brisbane. I was given a Gar, the USS Grayling.

I thought they looked almost exactly the same?


I'm in October 1942 and am in a Gato right now (looks the same as the Tambor I used to have). lol

There is a note regarding the Gars on Fleetsubmarine.com

"Note: Some authorities consider the Gars to be a distinct class, separated from the Tambors by the two Mackerel class boats. Others consider them to be a part of the Tambor class, this latter group including the Navy's official historians."

My first boat was a Gar class (USS Grayback, SS-208), but it got totalled on my second patrol, so they stuck me with the USS Tarpon (Porpoise class) instead.

it has no gun deck on the front of the conn tower. its weird i select different subs but this dude always appears.. the one with the small holes in the front of the conn tower.
If I had a screeny program i would post it.

Call up MS Paint.

Hit CTRL+V.

Click the File menu.

Select, "Save As..."

Save as a JPEG.
