Torpedo trails - where are they?

I've yet to see any of my Mark 14 torpedoes leave a visible trail when traveling towards an enemy, like they were 'famous' for.
Is torpedo trails in the game as a feature at all?
Perhaps it depends on your graphic settings...?
If it's just missing, I suppose I could start working on a graphic mod to put them in.

Norman

I see mine. They are faint but they are there.

Maybe it's the sealife cloaking that's absorbing the bubble trail...

The wakes are there all right, just that they are so short ones. Nvdrifter released a great "longer torpedo wake" mod for sh3 GWX, that would be nice to have here too. And the same for the ship wakes too (he fixed them also).

Dont see any here but have graphics turned down as low as possible to make it playable.

I see wakes, but they are very short and subtle. If I lose track of them it is rare I managed to free-float camera back to them again.

The wakes are there, but they could be made longer.

Von Manteuffel 04-01-07 06:01 PM

Yup, they're definitely there. I've watched them run astern of many a target despite a "perfect" TDC solution :damn::damn::damn:

The wakes are there. Perhaps your particle density needs to go up some. Also, the God's eye view I can not see them. I have to zoom in on them.

I am currently working on an SH4 mod for longer and brighter torpedo wakes. Keep a lookout in the SH4 modder's forum for a future release. :arrgh!:

Good, I did hope my question would spark some witty replies ;)

And, of course, I hoped it would spark the reply nvDrifter gave me.
Sounds great that you're working on this mod - I'll be the first to download!

I had this happen too. The TDC was spot on. Seems the torpedo ran through a school of jelly fish that slowed the torp just enough to give time for the ship to steam ahead of it's intended contact point.

:ahoy:
