You a) need to run JSGME once before you can use any mod (JSGME will then create the MODS folder by itself) and b) should maintain the same folder structure WITHIN the Mods folder as you would have if you wouldn't use JSGME but simply replaced files, aka ... MODS/Data/cfg etc

That explains it pretty well I think.

And just to be sure, double check all your "MOD" folders and see that the next folder down is named "Data" if it is then its OK, sometimes when you unpack a .rar it will create a folder with the same name as the mod but the actual mod folder is inside it. So better check as i said before you drop any mods in to JSGME

Sometimes RAR's unpack's like this=no good
Some Cool Mod for SH4/Some Cool Mod for SH4/Data/Menue...etc.

Should look like this=good
Some Cool Mod for SH4/Data/Menue...etc.

must i start JSGME and then start sh4??
couse i dont start JSGME when i play sh4
and my filename in the mod map is: parab's tweaked air strikes => Data => Cfg => airstrike.cfg
is this correct?

If you have mods in JSGME that are in the "Activated Mods" window you don't need to start it every time. It will "inject"the mods once you transfer them in to that "Activated Mods" window and they will stay "injected" until you remove them.

That looks correct to me.

And you say you don't see the difference...well that particular mod will take some time to spot as it is a subtle game play mod, not a graphic mod or anything you would spot directly.

My mods work with JSGME just fine. They've been downloaded a couple of hundred times and so far noone had problems with it. ;)

As others have already mentioned, make sure you've copied the "ParaB's..."-folder into the correct MODS folder. You should now see it in the JSGME interface and be able to install/deinstall it.

You only need to install a mod via JSGME ONCE and you don't need to run JSGME every time you play SH4.

Everyone is giving sound advice. A very basic thing with JSGME is to remember that the file structure is crucial. If you're a tidy-minded (aka anal) so-and-so like me, you may have downloaded and unzipped your mods into a file(s) you created (on your desktop, or elsewhere). If you then copy your own file into the Mods folder, it won't work 'cos you've created an extra "layer". Just check that your mods within JSGME have the proper structure: main folder, then - immedialey within that - the "data" folder as the next level down.

As has been said, once a mod is installed in JSGME - that's it. It's a brilliant program which you don't have to start, or run. it simply "is" and the installed mods will be in effect every time you run the game.

If you continue to have problems, the great guru, Jaeson Jones, inventor of JSGME (and SH3 Commander) is an incredibly friendly and helpful person - not averse to answering your PMs

install???? i just put it the file in the mod map and press > in JSGME. how do i install??

and to let your mod work(a great mod btw:D ) must i start a new campaign?? couse in my current campaign the planes keep coming:damn:

If the mod appears in the right column in JSGME under the heading "activated mods" then it is installed.

That's already the "install" process. Once you've done that, everything's fine.

Thanks. You don't have to start a new campaign, this small mods works once you've enabled it. Planes WILL still appear, but far less than in stock SH4.

Keep in mind that once you've been detected the frequency of enemy air strikes will increase dramatically! So, don't get detected in the first place. ;)

If the japanese detect you, hide (dive) for a couple of hours until the situation cools down.

I had a problem like that with JSGME, found out it was because im running windows vista. if i run JSGME as an administrator it works fine.

Yes. If you are running JSGME on Vista and are having problems with mods "taking" (the usual symptom is that the MODS folder itself is not created when JSGME is first run), then you need to do ONE of two things:

1. right-click JSGME.exe and select "Run as Administrator"

OR

2. right-click JSGME.exe and select Properties. In the properties window select tab Compatibility and check "Run this program in compatibility mode" and in the box below select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)".

That will get you going.

Cheers "JScones" I have simply been creating a "MODS" folder myself...for some reason it has worked, but what you just said does it like it should, and thanks for a super app
