Just downloaded GWX - and WOW!!! Sound issue though..

I just downloaded GWX, loaded up a mission and was blown away by all the workmanship and detail that has been put in to this sim.. Brilliant!!

However, I am wondering what has happened to my engine noise.. It is so quiet, in the command room I can gear the ticking of a clock. And as for hydrophone station, again the engines are very much quieter than in stock SH3 version.

Is this a planned effect, or do I have something screwy going on..?

BTW, all other sounds seem fine..

Thanks,

Mike

Planned effect. Try the external camera and scroll around the boat.

Welcome to Subsim bilge rat.
Enjoy your stay.

A big Grey Wolf welcome to you from me! xxx

now why would you waste all that time downloading a load of tosh like GWX? (note the silly sarcasm there) :rotfl::rotfl:

GWX - In my view is the 5th official patch for SH3  - Except for them bloody useless torpedoes! :damn:

Just back from another patrol - GWX is the shinizzle.. :D

Destroyers are kicking my butt though... Much more aggressive than before IMO.

Great mod fellas.

Thanks for the warm welcome and hospitalities as well

Hi submikey, welcome.

About your sound issue, I have the same as discussed in this thread:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=109877

I have since tried upping the sounds levels and there's a faint hum in the background, drowned out by the loudness of the ticking clock :rotfl:. Funny thing for me is I never played the game without GWX so I've got nothing to compare this with, it just seems far too quiet.

Anyway, it's not a show-stopper so I'm just getting on with it, but like you I'd be intersted in how to fix it.

Welcome onboard Kpt.submikey go sink ém all  :arrgh!:

Tikigod 04-02-07 07:12 AM

I use a sound mod on top of GWX that fixes that problem.....

You can download it here:
http://files.filefront.com/GWX___Rul.../fileinfo.html

Use JSGME to apply it.

Vacillator 04-02-07 07:24 AM

Thanks Tikigod, have downloaded and will try it out tonight.

I see it has engines and torpodo tube sounds. Was just wondering about their source, did you produce them?

Thanks again.

Welcome aboard kaleun....the galley is aft :arrgh!:
You might notice a similarity when you press 'Q' to open the torpedo tube doors...if you do then go to external view and again you will hear a marked difference.
