The soundtrack

The original soundtrack recording, from the exclusive limited edition, is actually great stuff! Music composed by Rod Abernethy and Jason Graves.

Good to listen to, while playing sh3-gvx in the waiting for the next patch....

I agree!

Spaxspore 03-28-07 08:27 AM

IMO it sounds very similar to the music thats in the movie Pearl harbor...

Well, since the music for Pearl Harbor was done by Hans Zimmer, and since he's basically the god of music as far as I'm concerned, that sounds like pretty high praise. :D

Hans is the man:up::up: Gladiator sound track for me:yep:

Spaxspore 03-28-07 08:43 AM

gladiator rocked, as did the music

Pearl Harbor SUXED (give me tora tora tora any day) but the music was not bad, i especially liked the drums in the Japaneses battle sequences.

Hehe, I'm a big Zimmer fan too :) I've got quite a collection of his film scores (not as many as I would like though...they can be difficult to find!). If you liked Gladiator, try Crimson Tide or The Last Samurai. Both are superb!

Getting back to topic, I like the soundtrack CD too...it reminded me of Zimmer's score for The Last Samurai as both have strong Japanese influences. The CD was one of the main reasons I got the Deluxe Edition of SH4.

Although it must be said that the melody that comes in at 1:45 on track 7 - 'Photographic Reconnaissance' - does sound awfully similar to 'Chevaliers De Sangreal' from 'The Da Vinci Code' soundtrack...

Coincidence, I'm sure. In any case, hopefully it won't be enough to set off another bloody Da Vinci Code court case...! :o

and Rod Abernethy stated here in this interview

that he was influenced by: Aaron Copland, Maurice Ravel, Bernard Hermann, Carl Stallings, Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry, Danny Elfman, James Newton Howard, Hans Zimmer,...

I think this soundtrack has album sale potential, to be honest

Damn right! Alec Baldwin as Doolittle? Oh Christ... nie way to lose your lunch.

Watched Tora! Tora! Tora! again prior to the game coming out... little did I know that the movie would be more entertaining than the game (until it's REVAMPED buy modders and patchers  )

P.S. Zimmer is the epitome of manly-man git' er' done music. You guys have to listen to the Black Rain soundtrack from LONG ago. Sure, it's dated but the oriental theme to some of the tracks is just righteous!!!!!!!!!!

Tranton 03-28-07 08:09 PM

Agreed! I love the soundtrack. I think I've listened to the soundtrack by itself longer than I have played the game.
