I am not 100% sure but I would suggest the safest course of action. Uninstall GWX and re-install it again. After that patch it with any patch you require.

If you got the 1.03 patch from the 'early' unsanctioned release then I'm 99% sure that the download was not complete. The files that the link pointed to were deleted very quickly, so I'm sure that you were in the process of d/l when they were deleted.

Full reinstall is the only option.

I'm sorry that one person has ruined your install!!!

Would system-restore work?
Some games or patches create a restore-point upon installing, but I don't know whether GWX1.03 does that.

I doubt it. Ideally you just need to uninstall GWX and re-install it. It's a long job, but unfortunatelly since the incident that Dan refers to, the link had to be deleted causing trouble in the patch.

bigboywooly 03-26-07 11:39 PM

Is that the torrent ?

Not sure how that was put together

1.03.exe is 82mb

kwikpoppa 03-27-07 12:08 AM

Well speaking from one who has all mods working A1 ,loving GWX ,Im a lil agfraid to hit this update, but alas here I go........

Da_Junka 03-27-07 12:46 AM

1.03 works on mine but it did bust my carreer, had to start again from scratch, and I was not at all happy about that:cry:
But I was warned this may happen so its my own stupid fault, anyway Im so glad the GWX team are still active and giving us these excellent updates. When are you going to start to pulling SH4 out of the zhit by transforming that into a playable game? :)

Hi mate

The torrent is the full 82mb exe, I didn't try to compress it anymore. BTW it's still active for anyone who needs it.

What link did you use that gave you the 25mb file? Also, is it possible that your connection crapped out befor the d/l completed.

To be safe, JScones has built a MD5 checker. This little program verifies that you d/l is not corrupted following a d/l. You can get it from his website or from the GWX Website (click on my sig), it a very handy little tool.

Correct. We do recommend, if you have the HD space of course, that you maintain a backup copy of either your clean and patched SH3 (to 1.4b) or your base GWX installation (any version).

Thus whenever a new release comes and you end up having problems, you can simply revert to your previously installed backup withgout needing to start from scratch.

Personally I find that system restore provides a false sense of security and really, in this case, could provide more angst than other alternatives, as a system restore will impact much more than just your SH3 installation (for me it's a real pain, because as a software developer, I find that all my freshly created binary files go missing ).

Maintaining a "clean and unplayed" backup copy of your SH3/GWX installation is prolly the best advice I can give.

You only need patch 1.4b as it contains the other Ubi patches
Then you only need GWX 1.03 as it contains the previous GWX patches also
