Get This...
Get this:
So I'm cruising through the Phillipines in my new command USS Gar, on our second patrol. I make radar contact with a task force at sunset, position myself perfectly, up scope - come to papa - a CV. A big boy, Shokaku. Holy moly. Sweep the scope - wait a minute - there's another carrier - escort type, and smaller, but let's not get greedy. Let's look around a little more: 2 Fleet CVs, 2 CVEs, an AV Kamikawa type, and 2 CAs. I didn't even bother to count the escorts. So I pull up the torpedo thingy, and guess what - they're all black! I'm carrying a detachment of Marine Recon! I have zero fish. I think they programmed that junk in on purpose, just to piss me off!:rotfl: That's what I get for allowing myself to be distracted from the mission... So I surfaced after breaking contact, and radioed their position to COMSUBPAC. Back to sneaky peeky mode. I was thinking - If they radio me and say "Be more aggressive!" I'll scuttle the boat. :D Regards, Mylander |

They don't even acknowledge your status report anymore, ao no worries about that... Now to sink those Carriers... RAMMING SPEED! :arrgh!: |
No fish???? Now that just plian sucks. :yep:
Is there no way you can check before the mission on what your loadout is? Or is it take what they give you with no chance of changing anything? I don't have SH4 but this seems a bit tainted and not in your favor. |
You have to check your loadout because for me they wont automatically replinish torpedoes.

But this is why I'll go back out again and again - this is part of the fun - not knowing what you'll run into. Regards, Mylander |
Something must be done about my ordinance officer. When I finished my 1st patrol I had 5 torpedoes left. Start my second and I still only had the 5. Between the 2nd and 3rd I go into the torp screen and have to manually select the torpedoes.

I actually had a similar incident just recently too. I was sailing around in the area to the SW of Manilla, in a monster of a typhoon no less, at 1024x. And my watch officer reports ships spotted, so I scury on up to the bridge to take a peek.
At first I thought he was seeing things as I couldn't see a darn thing due too the weather, and it being pitch black out. But just as I was about to order a dive to PD to check for contacts, I literally jumped out of my seat when I spot a Takao CA sail on by at less than a 80 yrds to starboard. :o I was so supprised that I completely forgot about diving, and just sat there and watched, as we camly passed by each other as two ships in the night (literally lol). Anyways, shortly after the Takao heads off into the stormy gloom, I spot another object, and another, and then a third, heading strait towards me same as the Takao. Wasn't long before I realised that I had two Shokaku CVs and a Furataka passing by right to my portside, in what would have otherwise been a picture perfect attack position. But, as the saying goes, if its too good to be true, well it probably is. I just happened to have spent my last six torpedoes on a large tanker just earlier that day. There's nothing more frustrating than to be torpless while a task force steams right in front of you. :damn: Oh, did I mention I love this game. |

Maybe it's like real DOD finance - you don't spend (blow) it all this year, you'll get less next year, since you obviously don't need as much! :-? Seriously, I have never had to load torps before a career patrol. Quote:
