G7es torpedos

Well, I could not find any information from a search, so I'll have the ask the question here.

My payload of torpedoes are G7es and I've never used them before.

Which should they be set as, Impact or magnetic?

Rob

id say use impact...the magnetic have to many premature detonations or duds
some simply just pass under the keel
very depth sensitive

Impact with good AOB is the surest way tp success. However, Ive sank a number of ships by using magnetic when I couldn't wait for good AOB.

Ive used them with impact and magenetic settings but it all depended on the weather seeing there homeing torps they going to find a target most of the time.

my XVIII is filled with these...

No 'stupid' munitions... In a battle with destroyers, I approach the convoy headon... Stop engines and wait till escorts are below 5700 meters away, this is when I fire Zaunkoning I /II... With destroyers out of the picture, I use the Falke for escaping merchants and only Tonnage wise...

To have peace of mind, I always set them to IMPACT..

Magnetic det works 'if it works..' with G7e unguided/stupid fish..

Typical loadout in my XVIII.

Bow tubes 1,3,5 --> Zaunkoning I/II/I .. tubes 2,4,6 --> Falke

Reserves 10 Zaunkoning I/II combo, 7 Falke..

Sometimes If I'm bored with that or I'm about to raid port, I load G7e instead of Falke...

guessing pickinthebanjo refers to the poor load-out of only 2aale.
but the boat itself is marvellous

Yeah I didn't mean it was a bad boat, didn't mean to offend anyone. What I mean is that I prefer a larger displacment (My favorite sub is actually the russian Typhoon, but they aren't in any game I know of) . I find the VII just a little to small for my liking also, even though it has been my choice for over 12 patrols (love the interiors)

Yeah I just need more torpedoes in a boat than the XXIII carries, although if it carries a good loadout of flak/88mm i'd settle for that. (My last patrol i sank over 30000tons with Flak/88mm, because I was to quick in making a soloutions in my last convoy)

Yeah I never actually tried it I just looked it up on uboat.net, how does it preform (other than not having many torpedoes)

No offence taken at all matey....I'm very thick skinned :DL

Just wondering if you had found something that hasn't yet been reported

She goes well but as already stated, historically and in game she only has two eels so you have to be a little selective what you target.
