Got game..bagged my first ship! A Ocean liner 19000 tons!

Anybody else seen Ocean liners or am I just lucky?

There was a number of liferafts afterwards, but nobody in them.

How do one save survivers?

The_Rus 03-24-07 10:34 AM

I have seen 1 it was about 5000 feet off fire two shots both hits, but alas it did not do any thing. :damn: I don't know about life boats. :hmm:
I went out on my second patrol and bagged one.

Bagged one of 18,000+ on my first patrol enroute to Honshu:arrgh!: . Three fish and down she went. I noticed people got in the lifeboats, but they seemed to all be washed out the first time a wave came by.

My first kill in the S-31 was a Kongo Class battleship, 32000 tons
The 6-7 escorts just kinda sat there signaling each other afterwards like "How do we explain this one..."

Noone has found a way to rescue survivers?

HannesGM 03-25-07 06:40 AM

I don't think you can save survivors, they're just for show.

I sank 3 ocean liners so far after three patrols. Plus 3 Fuso class BBs, a Shokaku class CV and 2 Hiryu class CVs. Somehow, sinking capital isn't that much fun anymore, as it was in SH3 - they're just everywhere. I have, until now, run into huge task forces twice already (without them having much to do with historical events, like Coral Sea or Midway), one consisting of four BBs, 5 CAs plus change, the other of two Hiryu CVs, a Shokaku, 2 Kongo BBs, Yamato BB plus a ****load of change... Interesting, considering most Japanese BBs weren't exactly earnign much milelage in WWII...

To sum it up, sinking capital ships, liners asf isn't as thrilling as it used to be, at least for me. But it sure is exhilarating watching a BB capsize.

yeah, you can't rescue the survivors, and make sure you don't run into and of the lifeboats or rafts otherwise the mp's will be waiting for you when you get back to port.

also, don't attack fishing boats because the mp's will be waiting for you when you get back.

I sunk a fishing boat and didnt get arrested. US subs would deck gun fishing boats IRL because most were picket boats equiped with radios and guns.

Jeez, I would have never found out about sinking fishing boats. Never bothered to attack them, as I figured the shell would be too expensive for that sort of thing...

I think you can only save American survivors. I put a 4" shell into a Japanese life raft and didn't get arrested.
