OT- Silent War by Compass Games

All,

I don't know if you have heard of Silent War, but if you are a sub fan and/or a Pacific Theater buff this is a must-have. The components are just beautiful!

Game is published by Compass Games. Plus they have an Atlantic War version coming out in the near future.

Just thought I'd give everyone a head's up on a great game that doesn't require FSAA, paches, an expensive hardware update or "system requirements". :D

Yep several of us have heard of it, there is even a Subsim review for it here by Neal Stevens and clan :)

Yup, have it, love it.

The only problem is finding a spot to set it up where it won't be disturbed for weeks or months.

I agree--awesome game simulating the entire US Sub campaign. I'm currently playing the full campaign and am in Apr of 44. I've been playing it using Vassal, though, so I don't have to worry about leaving it set up.

I don't know the game, but I wanted to address something else: since this is the board for ALL other ship games and ALL other games in general, it's not Off-Topic.:sunny:

looks a bit uber complicated, but I may have to look for Atlantic War when it's released

AirborneTD 03-31-07 07:30 AM

Its definately not complicated. An individual patrol can take as little as 15 minutes. The entire campaign can take forever.

tedhealy 03-31-07 10:02 AM

Not complicated at all. It will take a play session or two to get the rules down, but once you do, they are easy to remember and the turn sequence just feels right.
