Where is the salvo switch
 

I am too impatient to search and its late and only had the game for 3 hours, 2 of which have been graphics tweaking only.

They did. But ahh, im guessing either the TDC worked differently then the german's or they jsut sort of manuall did it. If i remember my readings of serveral years ago, it was called a "fan shot". (same thing as salvo really, only with more torpedo's)

My hope is that torpedo salvo functionality is declared and defined in the 1024_768.ini file, and not declared in hardcode and defined in said ini file. If salvo functionality is both declared and defined in the ini file, then it might be possible to strip out the blocks of code from SH3, and reuse them in SH4.

You will want to set the salvo angle spread on each torpedo.

So the spread angle is the number of degrees off the center "locked" position that your torpedo will be fired at? i.e. at 0 spread your shot will go exactly where your crosshair is pointed? I'm still trying to feel out how this works.

Huh? There was a big thing about this a few days ago, when people stated the feature was not there since it was never used. German saboteurs?

I maybe short on sleep (very short) but i remember enough from all the Edward Beach books ive read years ago that they did use salvo's. If i remember correctly early war for the US doctrine was to use a fanshot to ensure a hit. The term, "fanshot" which im 99% positive was a term ive read about before, is a US navy term that was indigative of shooting a salvo. They just went about it differently then the germans.

I know that american and german TDC's had some big differences, along with their periscopes. Ever read that inspection report about the captured uboat that became the RN Graph? Allies were GREATLY impressed with german attack periscopes, and it was apparently very advanced compared to the allies at the time. Point being, the TDC not supporting salvos like were used to with german TDC's is probably historically correct, but just because the function isn't there like we're used to, doesnt mean they didnt shoot salvo's.

I am not an expert by any stretch but what makes the most sense to me is this. I believe what they meant by "salvos" is 2+ torpedoes shot in succession based upon the same firing solution. Not fire 1 tube, see if it hits, take more target readings, launch another tube, etc. But take one target reading for speed, AOB, range, etc, and then just fiddle with the spread of the individual torpedoes. I don't think there was a one shot button...actually, I've read and been told as much. There was no one shot button. :know:

Right, there was no salvo button. Each tube was launched individually. A skipper would set his gyro offset, fire 1, wait 5-8 seconds, fire 2, wait, etc.
