Maps Tools & Tool Helper

Ok, I've searched for this but no luck (using the search forum/thread w/strings; tools, tool helper, helper, etc)...

The manual states you can edit the text for the markers you place on the map (x-number of char's; 18, 54 or somesuch) but doesn't say how to do it. I thought it might be the tool helper thingie but nothing [much] happens when I click that (it appears to be a compass - it opens but nothing else).

I have the D/L'd version (from Direct2Drive) and patch 1.1. This didn't work in 1.0 either.

Haven't seen anyone else mention this so I must be missing something. The ability to add custom text was a lil tidbit I wished SH3 had and to see this addressed in the manual for SH4 was a plus - now if I could just get it to work.

Many thanks,
Jeff

I second this request for information. I don't comprehend what the Tool Helper does either.

You have to get the deluxe edition with the wax pencil :D

I tried a bunch of different ideas last night and couldn't figure out any way to change the marking text.

I was also trying to figure out if there was a waypoint tool on the map or if you have to go down to the bottom toolbar and click the icon.

I know one answer... the tool helper displays a bearing rose on the end of the various tools as you click and drag them. Only if the tool helper is "on", or "open" if you catch my drift.
