Cannot Install Patch - Catastrophic Failure Error!!!!!
Guys,
I finally installed SH4 this evening (Collectors Edition). I then rebooted the PC, then ran the game - its as choppy as hell! - I have a high end laptop (Dual-Core Dell XPS M1710, 512mb graphics, 2mb memory etc. with XP Home SP2) and all graphic settings are maxed out. Tried others, but no matter what settings I choose its still too choppy. So, I then tried installing the 1.01 patch. Just as its finishing I get the following error appear on screen: Feature transfer error Feature: Install Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific Component: File: Error: Catastrophic failure It only has an OK button on it. Once clicked it dumps you back to the desktop. I then uninstalled the game fully, and reinstalled after another reboot. Again launched the game, then attempted the patch - exactly the same error!! I also downloaded it again, this time from another site, but the error remains. Please, please, please - does anyone know a solution??? Cheers all - this is SO frustrating! :damn: :damn: Px3000 |
Catastrophic Failiure, I've never heard that before. Did you download the patch in an archive file? If so, did you extract it before you ran it?

Hi,
No, I downloaded the EXE file from one of the mirrors on the www.silenthunter4.com website. This is the filename: silent_hunter_4_1.1.exe Each time it fails I have to uninstall completely and reboot as its impossible to launch the game once that error has appeared. Cheers Px3000 |
Maybe it would help to install SH IV on another drive?
After opening the data\config file in the Sh IV folder, I encountered a lot of references to SH III, German named crewmembers, German subs etc..... I have absolutely no clue how they got there, I mean SH III is installed on a completely different drive.....:o there is definitely some kind of mixup here, but SH IV runs smoothly...patched and all. Anyway, I'm not sure it will help, but you could give it a try..... Good luck! |
