3D Hull Shapes

Ahoy fellow sailors...

I was using this 3D modeling tool to create boat hulls, and I want to know if this is a good idea...

The blue is the keel underwater, the green is above water, and the thick white line is the Waterline.

Dimensions:

Length: 27.000 Feet
Beam: 8.200 Feet
Keel: 3.000 Feet

The middle left is a view from behind, and the middle right is the view from the front. This is my first attempt at it, so excuse any shotty craftwork.

Also, I'd like to see if I can model YOUR designs, so post any please!

Here's an experimental shape I quickly designed. Draft/Keel is White, Above water is green:

Length: 103 Feet
Beam: 8.2 Feet
Draft/Keel: 5.8 Feet

I don't really know too much about hydrodynamics etc. The first one looks like it could be a nice sturdy pleasure craft. Not sure about the second. Are those exaggerated bilge keels or something? I might want to see some tests in the swimming pool before I board that ship :p

Here's a new model.

The "Coastal Cruiser"

http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...talCruiser.jpg

Length: 23 Feet
Beam: 9.8 Feet
Draft/Keel: 2.5 Feet

Notes: Designed for slow speed, low sea-state, coastal trips. The keel shape allows for stable, fast speeds. The small flattened area at the stern keeps lateral drift to a minimum. Not for use in open ocean.

New model: "Colombian Riverboat"

http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...nRiverboat.jpg

Length: 16 Feet
Beam: 3.7 Feet
Draft: <1 Feet

Notes: A flatbottomed, very shallow draft riverboat. The keel only extends 3/4's of a foot into the water, allowing very shallow river travel deep into a mainland. Not for use in open ocean.

I'm now in the process of making a large, seagoing type. I only wish I could put superstructues on them. That would make them perfect.
