Some question regarding damage control and torpedo fireing
Hi all.
I got SH4 yesterday, but I have some questions. I played SH3 alot on ~85% realism, so I think that I ain`t too much of a noob. But it looks like I am, at least in SH4. How the hell can I show damage control team to repair certain parts of my sub?? I assembled the team (not to mention, that I had to manualy drag each crewmember into the DC spot, because assembling damage control button doesn`t funciton :-?). Well, when I had them in that team, I clicked onto the damaged area, but nothing happened. :-? Also, why can`t we select our own custom difficulty settings at the start of our career?? Wtf?? Only preset are there. Not to mention my dumb crew, who can`t spot a Azuki class destroyer until they are at short range, even if the weather is clear and sea is calm. yes, the bar is green.. The sheattieast thing of all is, that on a Pentium D 805 @ 3066 MHz, 1gb DC DDR 400 and Radeon x800xl, I get 14 FPS in combat. I have almoust all details set to minimum. How the hell is this supposed to work on a recommende spec machine??? Patch is obviously needed, and very soon! How can they even release the game if it works worse than a pre-beta... |
Damage control team works. It just does not show you the progress of the work like in sh3...but they do their job. They do the job even if a damage control team is not assembled, and each compartment crew repair whatever is broken in their kitchen.
There is custom difficulty. Select anything you like from the preset. Then start the career, and click on the first book in the left side om the shelf. It says "Options" and manually select what you wish, just like in sh3. My crew always spots everything....this is strange. My configurations is like it follows. Barton2300@3200, 1Gb memory, Geforce 6800GT. The game runs at an average of 30 fps, with most details set to max, and the glare turned off. There must be something ****ty in your case....but I cannot jump to conclusions since I am not aware of your pc knowledge extent. Please come back with more details. I usually turn off everytnig in the systray, including my McAfee onacces scanner. |
Tnx Kruger, I will try that.
My PC is: Asrock DualVSTA 775 Pentium D 805 (2.66GHz@3.066GHz) 1 GB Geil Value DDR 400 Dual Channel GFX is acctualy X800GTO2 @ X800XL (16pipelines) 2 HDD, Maxtor 80 GB, Hitachi 160 GB (where the game is) I will try to turn of everything or as much as possible in sys tray, hope it helps. What else could it be, do you have any ideas now? EDIT: I hope it was a one-off with my crew not spotting that destroyer at that time. |
I also experience low fps after the game loads...it takes a few seconds until it reacts to F5 key and loads all the textures. I do a 360 from the mouse...and after that everything runs smooth...but I am sure you allready know all these things. I wish I could be of more help to you, but I do not know what to say.
Also...do not forget to sound "All hands to battlestations" before going into battle. The efficiency of all compartments increases dramatically, and they repair damage quicker. |
I did close everything in system tray, and now the game runs better, so thanks for all your help. :) Also, I know that about the F5 key, it`s the same here too, I also had this in SH3 GWX, so I am not bothered by that. I will try the newest omega drivers for my card, maybe it will help even more.

I installed the latest drivers, but the game runs the same as it did. :/ It`s working a bit better than at the beggining, after I took Kruger`s advices, but the difference is only about 10 or 15%. Any other ideas? Anybody? Or is this normal for that kind of PC (I and Kruger believe, that it isn`t)?

Perhaps it's an issue with the ATI drivers?
|
Did you try something like driver cleaner pro to totally remove your drivers before reinstalling them?

EDIT: Also, I get 5500 points in 3D Mark 2005, so the system is working ok. Just this game is "weird" in terms of performance. Maybe that poor performance is standard for that kind of system. |
