Torpedo failures?
Are these modelled? Is there a setting for "Realistic Torpedo Failures" like there was in SH3 (which if you had checked, torpedoes even then seemed to still be pretty reliable)
I'm a couple hundred pages into Silent Victory and from what I've read of the early war (I'm up to Febraury or March of '42) the failure rate was horrendous. I'd guess 80%. Is this accurately reflected in the game? Or is it toned down for playability reasons? Call me a masochist, but I'd love to see it accurately reflected in game. I'm a sucker for realism. :yep: |
This PRE-RELEASE screenshot seems to indicate it is indeed modelled.

A-ha! Thanks for the screenie.
I was aware that duds were modelled by SH, but I guess my question is how accurate is that modelling? Meaning that if I take the exact same shot 10 times in a row, will my failure rate due to duds be 20, 25%, etc Or a more realistic 75, 80% etc? |

Lots of duds for me in SHIII (not counting myself) :D

The duds for American subs behaved different than the German torps. In the case of American torps you should avoid perpendicular impacts...if the devs did it right.
I'd guess some impact angle around 45-75 deg would be good...but thats just a guess. |

So did the Germans'.
